Can anyone explain this exhaust concept to me?? I've never seen such a design! http://www.autogrimmig.com/cat...1.jpg

Man you sure get a lot for a cheap price!!! I feel like I got ripped on the Element 114 kit I just purchased compared to this!

That's for the G35? If I remember correctly they have a single pipe coming out from the cat into a muffler and 2 pipes coming out that muffler. But since they included a Y pipe in this system I guess it's a dual setup. Looks pretty nice but I don't get whats that extra like chamber on top of the muffler for. lol

Oh yea, thats what you call a true dual cat setup. You get extra high flow, instead of 1 pipe splitting to 2 like our M and the G35, it has its own pipe to let more gases escape faster and more overall efficiency. My truck has a set up like that. Thats a true dual exhaust. Whenever the pipes merge its not a true dual.

The xtra chamber on the muffler is basically what you would see in a basic muffler, they just designed it to be external. (possibly save cost)

I see what you mean on cost, but you have to also think that the G35 is massssss-modified by everyone. Much cheaper to mod that car when thousands are doing it. You should see how much larger their G35 Forums are. One thread has 85000 view

lol...I know what a true dual exhaust is. I've owned 3 mustangs and a 05' Chevy SS Silverado. Though I would never recommend a true dual to anyone....not without a crossover chamber (ie, hince H and X pipes). They were there for a purpose. This was to equalize exhaust pressure between the two cylinder banks of the engine. I'm not really sure why they would do away with this for this exhaust system. True dual systems work great for High HP/ TQ applications, but not for our everyday drivers built for efficiency and engine response throughout the majority of the engines rpm power band.

The chamber on the top just ends. I thought it looped back into the muffler, but it just has a cap on it. There is a metal bracket holding it together, but if you look at the left muffler there is no shadow where there would be an attachment between the two chambers. So I'm thinking 2 options, 1= looks cool2= sounds different somehow
