I have a 1988 Silvia K and I hear a weird "knock" or "thud" sound when I turn the wheels ALL the way to the right. (not sure of left since I rarely have to turn it all the way in that car)

Is this some bushing that's gone? I looked at the tension rods and they seem okay but they are the stock ones and are probably 15 years old

Could be...

1) Spring improperly seated or strut assembly loose

2) Bad upper strut mount

3) Bad ball joint

Hey man, does it squeak a little before it pops/thuds, because my car does that and they said it was a bad upper strut mount. The good news is the piece is only like 20 bucks, but the bad news is, that you have to drop the front suspension to get to it. Try this, pop your hood and have a buddy take a look at the strut towers while you turn the wheel. If he sees one of the black pieces "pop" then you have a bad strut mount.

Cool thanks! I'll try that tonightI did notice that the one strut has some kind of felt thing between the strut and the tower and the other side doesn;t.
