Hello everybody. New 06 Altima owner and new to the board as well. I'm hoping some of you can help me with a slight problem with my door locks. It's an 06 2.5s Altima that we bought used just a week ago. Here's the problem. My key fob would operate the door lock functions fine. It would unlock and lock them without a problem and the interior master door lock would function properly as well. Now when my wife uses her key fob, all of the doors unlock EXCEPT the driver's door. Using the key to manually unlock the door, then using the master lock button all the other doors will lock and unlock except the driver's door. Now tonight when I tried to use my key fob it was behaving just like hers. I tried replacing the batteries in both fobs to no avail. Any suggestions? Will I have to re-program my key fobs? Thanks for any help you can offer!

Welcome to the wonderful world of nissan follies and foibles! I've owned 6 different nissans and the inescapable truth as despite their unrivaled longevity and all around durablility there are exactly two flaws consistant with all nissan automobiles: Exhaust systems that must be replaced or reconstructed early and often and door locks that share a similar fate. Note that all "consumer reports" regarding any nissan product give its highest ratings in all categories but doors. My advice is simply to bite the bullet and have it looked at. It's entirely possible that you may need them reprogrammed or more likely still that a manufacturing defect occured and may even be covered under warranty. If you've no warranty avoid at all costs taking it to the dealership as they will undoubtably tell you that your problem is closely akin to "needing one's seatbelt fluid changed", charge you approximately $500-$1000 and make you feel as if you've entered Shawshank prison. Find a reputable mechanic who owns his own shop and speak to this person frankly. With any luck, he won't tell you to have them reprogrammed just that a relay or something needs replacing which shouldn't be more than around $100-$200

We still have 2 years left of the warranty so I'll take the car to the dealer and let them fix it. After owning the car now for almost a month I'm fairly certain it's something more to do with the car's driver door lock (or relay) than it is the key fob. The interior door lock exhibits the same behavior that the key fob does so I think it's something wrong with the system itself.

Thanks for the response!
