So i swapped in a j30 vlsd today then after a couple hrs i go to drive my s13 and its making this sound that only happens under throttle. Well the closest thing i can relate it to is back in the day when kids would pin the baseball cards on the rear tires to make that smacking sound, well mines doing that but its like instead of a baseball card its a spoon or piece of light weight metal. Any one else experience this sound?? It also doesnt affect my speed or drivability its just a sound. Thnks guys

Did you use an abs driveshaft? The shaft may be binding

No i cant find an abs drivesahft anywhere. Junkyards, cl, nothing.. And i got some ppl yo say just go with the reg shaft in another thread i made before i put it in, and some ppl also said to switch abs. So idk.. How can the shaft "bind"? Im curious.. This is my first time swapping any difs, so im nervous an. Idk what to do. But like i said it only does it if im pressing the gas but if im slowing or no throttle and justt rolling it doesnt do the sound

I doubt its this, but when I replaced my gas tank I dropped the whole subframe, and when I put it back together I forgot to clip the ebrake cables back into the clips that keep them away from the driveshaft, and it made the same sound. I don't know if you messed with the cable or not though

ok just checked cables are fine but was i supposed to take out the sensor? cause i remember taking it out look at it. and there inside it looked weird like it might cause that but would fluid come out of it, if i removed it of the dif?

well i have read recently that the rubber bushing arent good which i only have 2 on there.. so umm maybe that could be the cause?? they callled it a "clunking" sound. but i dint think the dif would move or clunk as fast as my theory i described earlier.. help guys.. i cant have this fail on me.

Forgot about the bushings, but a binding shaoft or bushings would be my guess... or just a bad diff.

Well the J30 diff is longer because if that speed sensor in it. Sometime they can bind up because of the loss of free play. Usually turning, or over bumps when the drive line torques of the car flexes.
