Hey guys,

We got a new Altima a couple of weeks ago and so far things have been fine. Something strange happened today though and I was wondering if anyone has gone through the same thing. We parked the car, locked it and left it for a while. When we got back, the lights and the radio were on. When we wanted to unlock the doors with the remote but it took a few tries before working. There were no apparent signs of a break in but is there another possible explanation? Also, does anyone know if Altimas are common theft targets and if the keyless technology makes them easier to steal? It was pretty unsettling and any feedback would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I did sort of the same thing.

I left my window one day, and then late went in my car, turned it on (not the engine) shut the windows, and then *THOUGHT* I turned it off..

Throughout the rest of the day, i walked past it, nothing special....then when it got dark, my auto lights came on.... i spent a LONG LONG time trying to figure out what the frick (yes i said frick) was going on...

then i remembered that i probably didn't shut it off

I'm sorry but can you speak English and not ingrish, yo. I only say this because you might actually have something intelligent to say and I'd never know it simply because I can't understand a darned thing you type.

Lemme try to translate this for him. I think he's saying that the car doesn't have a real alarm system. If someone does break into the car you'd have no idea because the alarm doesn't chirp. It only beeps when it's locked and that is all. Something like that...

I know my coupe has an alarm as do all others. Once you lock the doors it waits 30 seconds before going into armed mode after that if some broke a window or something and opened it from the inside the alarm goes off just as if you pushed the panic button.

Have you actually tested this theory? I sat in my car, and had my buddy set the alarm from the outside. Sat in there for about a min, opened the door and got out, with no alarm. 3.5SE, loaded.

I've tested it. You don't even need your buddy to set the alarm, I did it from inside the car... let it sit for about 30 seconds like he said... and open the door... horn goes off like crazy.
