About two days ago my engine started doing weird stuff at idle. It will idle at about 1500 to 1700 and the it goes down to 1200. It's really not constant at all. Any idea where I should start looking at how to fix this problem?

Same old response.... check for vacuum leaks, hoses secure then go from there. Also check the tension on your throttle cable. Mine would idle at 1500 for a while, turned out that the cable was cranked down a tad too tight.

he already checked the tension in the cable... and he's gonna check the vaccum lines... anything else that might cause this? (beat you to it joe ;))

ARRRRG, my cars has blippy idle , is sputtery once warm and bogs at first throttle, . i think the air regulator is crapped again, or the coolant temp sender. or the MAF or the o2 or the tps, or maybe its time to yank her out tear her down and replace every freakin thing under the hood. oh wait , im also replacing the chassis. man its goin to be a long long winter.

hey, how good is the wiring you did? are you absolutely sure something isnt causing a short and frying things? it is quite possible that some wires are touching somewhere and frying things. i think you covered about anything that could possibly be wrong with his car though.

well i think its the air regulator, or coolant temp, still could be the MAF , it did this to me monthes ago an i changed those three things and it was like new, but also tonight i noticed my Alt belt was squealing alot itermittily and the dahs and blitz sbc id lights were dimming when ever i pressed the brakes, so i think the alt might also contain my problem.... when my car goes down it goes down with avengence
