weird idle problem; idles high after throttle closes.

Information on the naturally-aspirated KA24E and KA24DE engines.

If i just start the car and let it idle it will warm up and do its thing. drop to about 750-800 but after i rev it once. the idle then goes back to about 1000-1500 with hunting. This seems to me like some kind of intake leak? also seems to be smoking a bit. which is not oil. and im not loosing water and ahve no bubbles there. and compression checks. so what next? tps? iac?

if you have a turbo check for boost leaks it'll make you run rich from unmetered air. and screw up your idle.

sounds like the maf needs to be cleaned, the temp sensor will make your idle funny after the car warms up. when the maf starts to malfunction it won't read the air flow correct and it will send signals to the ecu that you are at a higher rpm so it will dump more gas then required, in which case it will start to flood out the plugs. i can get you readings on what the voltage is suppose to be for the maf if interested.
