Weird idle/low rpm missing problem

i have a s14 sr in my 95 and its runs great if you are slightyly into the throttle or accelerating hard. but when it idles it misses alot and when you try to cruise at lower speeds 50 and below it will lose power until you back off and get on it again or just give it gas. plus its running really rich, horrible gas mileage, fouls plugs like a mofo. i've heard a few things about the VTC wiring causing this but i'm not sure. also i pulled my injectors and in the process i broke alot of the little plastic fingers that go over the ends on each one. 4 per injector. i was wondering if this could be causing it to get too much fuel or something along those lines. i have a friend who gave me his s13 injectors that appear to be the same but the ends have a larger plastic cap on them that covers everyting except the 4 center holes in the injector. any help is appreciated thanx zach

Possible clogged EGR issue.

Does it immediately smooth out above 3000 rpms?

Does it smooth out after 5000 rpms?

will this also work on the s13 blacktop nismo freak??

i am having a horrible time troubleshooting a very similar issue. I have had my blacktop in my car for about 3-4yrs never had a problem. But, now from 2500-3k rpm in 3rd gear and occassionally 2800-3200 in 4th it lacks a lot of power. I give it gas and once its to 3k rpm or entering into boost it immediately regains its power. My issue is occurring on and off.. after changing plugs it seems to go away for a week then comes back.. lately its getting worst and worst.. very aggravating.

Right now i am just researching, until i can start testing these things out this weekend. so far i have the clogged EGR, possibly a bad/weak coilpack or a TPS issue.. from what i am finding on the forums.

i am wondering the same thing if it will work on the sr20det's. is the det block a high or low port?

i'm not really having any problems right now but i like the idea that its one more thing that i don't need taking space up in my engine bay.

its one more thing NOT taking up space in my engine bay.

Sorry to bring this back from the dead but Im having the same problem. Its like my motor is missing below 3K rpm when I try to hold the throttle steady, but above it, it smooths out and runs great. Could that be a bad egr or something else?
