I'm fairly sure i let my truck run low on oil. I was letting it warm up when i was getting off work the other night and i kept hearing this grind/squel noise every 15 sec. i put some oil in it and it seemed to help alot, but still this weird shifting noise.

The noise is random and does not proceed when reving the engine to 2,000 rpm.

There's no clunking sound either. just when its reving up to 2000+ rpm it "feels" like its got some weird vibrations.

I took off the oil cap when it was running and listened in on it and no aparent noise from the upper end of the engine.

I'm thinking its a rod bearing or something to do with the front seal since i've been leaking a good amount of oil from there. and a few drops of antifreeze now and then.

i've been pretty afraid to take it over 25000 rpm. dont wanna throw a rod and make things worse.

is there any way to replace the crank bearings or connecting rod bearings WITHOUT removing the crankshaft. Because that involves removing the engine, which isnt an option.

any help would be appreciated.

It could be done, but at some inconvenience to you. The engine would have to be supported from the top, the sub frame needs to be removed, the drag link for the steering needs to be removed and then you can address the engine oil pan. From there on its one at a time until complete. If attempting, change the front seal in the repair process.

Nothing definitive from the vid. Why run it without the cover?

so you could hear it better. I originally took it off to see if something was visibly damaged, but didn't find anything really. The noise seems to be comming from the back 2 rockers or valves. hard to say. Those rockers seem to be moving up and down less than the rest.

My plan is to drop this other motor in it and rebuild the current one.

I got ahold of a donor vehicle, i know the guy. He's going to let me take as much as i want for $500 bux. He cant sell it as a whole because he needs to pay off the dmv for his fine for not having a dealers license.

I'm pulling everything from Glass, motor, transmission, driveline, axle, doors, fenders, wiper motors, body clips.

Then when i got all what i want i'm going to take a saw's all and scrap it for $$$.

Need to get me a storage unit.

and a cherry picker.

Watched over the vid. There is definitely some thing wrong with those last two rockers. They even seem to throw less oil than the rest. Try adjusting them before doing anything else.
