Weird engine knock

I was driving along and started hearing a clatter. I pulled over checked everything out and couldn't find anything burned or disconnected. I started it back up and had what sounded like a nasty rod knock. I then towed it home. I disconnected each coil with it running and the nock never went away. I could also open the oil fill and the nock stops instantly but would knock occasionaly and the engine would miss when it would try to start the occasional nock again. It didn't seem like it was getting enough oil on the top end so I took the valve cover off and turned it over and it had small streams of oil running onto the cam lobes. So what do ya'll think it is and what do I need to check.

Run your ecu for codes and see if the knock sensor comes up. My rod knock lasted about 20 sec and boom. GL
