Well I just got my 240sx back from the mechanic getting new valvec seals put in and a new problem has arised. Here is waht it does:1. Everytime I downshift my radio will turn off, somtimes just when im driving down the road2. Tach doesnt start working till car is revved past 1500 rpms. 3. Headlights wont go down or up when car is not running, no accesorries work when car is not running actually.4. Weird 'ticking' noise in the interior of the car. Sounds liekit is coming from behind the gauge cluster. Most prevalant when at idle and on the breaks, but it is not brake related at all.5. Mechanic checked it out and said my fuse for my alternator under the hood was blown. I ordered a new one from nissan, he said i was not getting charge from my alternator but that it was running off battery power instead. Should this new fuse fix all these problems?

Also, would bad fuel injectors cuase a rough and inconsitant idle? iI have both symptoms but I do have 4 new ka24e stock injectors on their way to me. Im hoping this fixes it as i have replaced the cap, rotor, and plug wires. As well as the coolant temp sensor.

The rough idle might be corrosion on your injector's connectors. That was the case for me. Your instrument cluster might not be working because the white plug near your ecu might have gotten loose. Ditto with your radio. It's pretty easy to have a look at those plugs since you just pull the center piece thing that's keeping your stereo flush and what not. The accessories, you might wanna have a look at your battery terminal too. I know they get their juice from there. Clean off corrosion at your battery terminals. That might clean it up. Might want to have a look at those. I'm guessing your fusable link got blown if you had to order it from Nissan.

the battery itself checked out good. The battery is not getting any charge and that fusible link is blown. I ordered the new one and it wont be here till friday or so. I guess the car being down will give me time to put in the new injectors. Hopefully the fusible link will be hte fix.

you already replaced the injector connectors right? I know you got some...lol

You had a short somewhere that blew that fuse, A pretty good one too, thats a 75 amp fuse, possible altenator internal short?? This might be part of your whole problem, what ever shuts your radio down on down shift is probably your short you need to locate it. check the harness at the back of the valve cover where it spans from the body to the engine. see if its shorting against the valve cover bolt underneath it.

the wires behind the valve cover are bare now, from the shop mechanics being tards. None of them looked bare although. Im pondering if I should take my alternator out and have it tested. Would I be able to tell if there was an internal short then?

alright, looks like Ill pull the alternator and have it checked out then. Or woudl I be able to leave it in the car and then drivfe it over there and have them test it with it in the car? Either way, the battery is not getting any charge

you can do it either way but on the bench tester it isolates the altenator from the rest of the charging system.
