Hi, I just registered for this forum because the electrical components in my 2001 Pathfinder are driving me nuts!
I guess the easiest way to go about this is just start listing them. All of these problems are come and go problems, That is why pinpointing the cause is so difficult.
1. Sometimes when I start the truck my stereo, clock, and mileage gauge are all reset.
2. sometimes my dash lights work sometimes not.
3. most of the time my tail lights work sometimes not. (I have to check every time I start my truck)
4. I installed new horns to have something a little louder than stock. Now the horn just doesn't work. ( I have checked all the fuses I can fine for the horn and security horn, I have even reinstalled the stock horns and still no horn.)
5. when I open the back glass it Locks all the doors.
When I bought this truck last year I had to have a new E.C.M. installed, could it be causing these problems?
I hope somebody has had at least some of these problem and found out how to fix them, any help would/will be appreciated. Thanks :wtf2:

i think this may be something related to the ground/negative cable on your battery(think i read that somewhere on this forum) , make sure all connections are clean connected properly on the battery
and i believe when i open my back glass it also locks my doors, so that's normal lol

This is not a bug; it is a feature. Not sure if owner's manual has the description.

Thanks, I never thought of it just being a bad ground. I always go right over the simple stuff. I will clean up the cables tomorrow and hopefully that will take care of it. Now as for my doors locking when I open the back glass as a "feature"? I will have to download the manual and see. I cannot think of any reason for it But I'm not the one who designs them so I'll have to look. Thanks for the input guys I will get the cables cleaned and let you know how it goes, thanks again

If you have the manual, the glass hatch is on page 3-12, with a picture saying turning the key clockwise all the way the glass door opens and all other doors lock.

I couldn't find that in the manuals (pgs 3-12) I looked in both (2001 - 2001.5) but it doesn't matter, I just don't open the back glass. I would think that the people designing it had a reason for it that is beyond me.

Sorry I should have mentioned that mine is 2002 QX4.
Only time I open the glass door is parking in garage trying to take small things out or putting in, or haul long piece items from Home Depot, or whenever I like to check if the rubber seal gets stuck with the glass...

no problem, it could be the same thing for the pathfinder they just don't tell us.
Got another one for ya though, last night my key fob wouldn't work had to unlock it with the key and this morning I went out and it wouldn't start. It acted like the battery was completely dead. I cussed for a few min opened the hood had to get the keys out of the ignition for the house and turned it one more time and it fired right up. Been having to work and run around today so I haven't got to cleaning the cables but I will as soon as I get home. Thanks for the input

I wish I had a big enough can called feature so when I'm done spraying to kill the bug I can toss the feature in the garbage.... you can tell how much I love that "feature"
