I just got a new stereo for my 93 240sx hatch. Just when i finished installing it in the car and was about to turn it off i heard a loud click and my stereo went dead. Besides my stereo i started having a lot of problems after that. Every time i start my car the clock starts at 1 and the power seat belts don't work until the car starts running for a while. I've checked the fuses and none of them looked to be burnt out. Any idea what the problem is?

Wire crossed some where. Probably a loose ground wire. Does your stereo work at all now or is it totally dead? Who did the wiring?

I did the wiring with a friend of mine and I am sure that none of the wires are crossed now but two of them might have crossed when we were installing it. The stereo is dead as far as i can tell. When you say loose ground do you mean the ground to the stereo?

Take the unit out and see if those wires crossed. For your unit to be bad they must have crossed. And yes the ground from the radio.BTW- I had like 3 grounds from my radio and gauges on the same bolt and they all acted up. Once I spread them out it was fine.Bring back that unit right a way so you can exchange it.

I have the similar problem when I installed the radio it was working fine, then I reinstalled the stereo because of a speaker problem the interior light dont work and neither does the radio. My question after reading your post is what if the wires crossed? what now? Do I have to buy another harness?

I ended up fixing it somehow by replacing the majority of the fuses on the inside of the car. The weird thing was it wasn't the stereo fuse that was blown. So i guess you could try that
