weird "diesel - Like" rattle

Hi, i just had my KADE rebuilt and from the moment i first started it up it has been making a weird rattling noise. well more like a chatter. a friend said it sounds like they adjusted the valve lash wrong. I know the sound is coming from the front of the head. where the idler gear sits. i even drove the car to the shop and they said they would have to take the front cover off.

what could it be? maybe the chain a little loose, or could it actually be the valve lash adjusted wrong. Is there anything I can do myself to fix it, or would it be better to just take it to the shop or another shop to have them fix it?

Don't drive the car. Check the oil pressure before you do anything else. If the oil pressure is very low, you could wipe out the rod/main bearings; also the chain tensioners will fail to operate properly causing a loose rattling chain.

have you had this problem before? the oil pressure is fine, the oil filters come out fine, the shop owner said to take him the old oil filters and he cuts them open and checks for any traces of something tearing itself apart. there are no traces of such crap in there. So im just wondering what the hell that damn noise is.

You're saying the oil pressure is fine. How did you measure it? If you measured it with an oil pressure gauge, the readings with the engine fully warmed up should have been as follows:idle - at least 11 psi3000 RPM - 60 to 70 psi

The reason I'm saying oil pressure is because of your description of the noise sounding "diesel - like". This type of high pitch metalic noise points to possible rod bearing damage.
