could that also be the reason why my 5th gear doesn't work?

In theory no, although it's funny you mention that. My 5th works but it is sometimes difficult to pop out of. I'm thinking a new clutch isn't far off and hence a new T/O.

Clicking on clutch engagement?

That would be a loose axle nut more than likely.

Someone correct my thinking if I'm wrong.

When you push the pedal in the throwout bearing is against the pressure plate and turning with the engine. That's when it would be making noise. His noise is there when the clutch is engaged, and the throwout bearing should be back on the input shaft sleeve. With the pedal out, when the noise is happening, the clutch is engaged and the input and counter shafts are turning. That could make it a bearing in the transmission.

Throwout bearing noises are pretty common though.

noise when the clutch is released in normally the pilot bushing-that is the bushing that mounts in the flywheel and supports the trans input shaft-other possibility is that the shaft that the t/o bearing rides on has worn strangely

if there any noise and the 5th gear doesn't works, it could be the the shaft in the transmission worn out.

I have the exact same problem not expresso noise but like a low moan or humming sound after the car warms up it goes away most of the time only does it if the clutch is pressed to the floor or slowly letting it out in 1st or reverse. had multiple people tell me its the throwout bearing? sound right anyone??

to bearing is only gonna make noise when the pedal is down(clutch engaged). if thats not happening its gonna be the pilot bushing most likely

Hello everyone...I just wanted to say, my car is finally running! The sr sounds awesome!

Anyway, I have the same issue...Throw out bearings...

I guess what I'd like to know (as well as others) is, "what are the short-term & long-term affects with this issue (other than the annoying sound)?"

Also, if I were to replace the TOB, should I get OEM or aftermarket? Currently, there is an ACT clutch in there. If I were to get aftermarket TOB, what company should I get them from?

Thanks,Brian
