Hello all,

I'm experiencing an issue in my 1994 Sentra 1.5L LE. This is the model with no Tachometer.

The other day, with no warning, my A/C and heater fan control stopped working on each of the first three settings, and only operates on the last one. The fan makes no sound and seems to do absolutely nothing in the first three settings, however, it does seem to draw a bit of power from the car, almost as if it's still trying to operate.

Has anyone ran into this before or can offer me any input? Thanks in advance, all.

Hmmm...

A friend of mine had a '94 XE that had a similar sounding problem. Does it make a high pitched noise? I want to say her problem ended up being more expensive than the value of the car.

Did you mean 1.6? I've never heard of a 1.5 motor for the Sentra.

Nope, no high pitched noise. And ya, typo on the 1.6L - sorry.

I noticed another thread which mentioned a relay behind the passenger side kickpanel. Anyone else had this issue or any experience with this? This likely the problem, or something more expensive?

If you run a forum search for 'fan' you'll see it, but I'm looking for any input.

I'd check that relay and your fuses.

I'll try to do some research today and see what I can come up with for you.

It should be the fan relay. Never had to change one though, so I would have to look it up in the FSM. Not unless you have one.

Anyone know what this relay is called so I can find it somewhere to buy?

For anyone who comes across this thread in the future, the correct name for this part is a "Blower Motor Resistor". To get to it, you'll need to take the glove compartment hatch off, as well as the inner trim casing for the glove compartment. There's not many screws to get out, all said in done this repair should only take 5 or 10 minues. Not a bad fix, or price, to get my air conditioner working again!!!

By the way, the part's mounted behind the right kick-panel itself, it is NOT the black box directly connected to the blower.

Thanks everyone for the advice.
