weird clicking sound from engine

i only found one search result over and over when i looked for a related topic. so what's going on? i never noticed until i turned off my cd player and LISTENED to all the bells and whistles of my car. there is a strange tic-tic-tic sound coming from my engine that while at idle is like a slow constant sound of a baseball card in bike spokes. as i accelerate, the sound goes faster, but when i brake and shift to neutral, it totally dissappears. remember, it really is like if you say tic-tic-tic at a rythmic beat that goes faster during acceleration. please, can someone help? the other search result topic was kind of "you suck at giving info on the problem so here's some sucky bland answers" to me.

.... and i can't find it anymore, but i really am praying someone... no, if possible almost everyon says its that plastic guard thingy/timing belt something something(??) that i can just break off....

The usual noise that comes from under the hood of a KA24de is the timing chain/guides. Mine does it and I notice it comes and goes with different rpm, gear and weather. Hope this helps.

my engine is, from what i've been able to search for online, is not a KA24DE, but just a KA24... a truck engine. ah but i solved it... i was mega low on oil... stupid oil leak. i thought i had that fixed... thanks anways

check the engine compartment for an old alarm motion detector if you bought your car used. it should be mounted right above the brake fluid resevior, if you shake it it will start clicking.. i just took mine out doesnt make a sound anymore
