2004 G35 coupe (stock)

so i had an exhaust leak which turned out to be replacing 2 gaskets..

-Before the fix, the car was obviously making noises, BUT the throttle response was awesome, barely touch the pedal and it moves nice.. seems like at any speed push the pedal maybe 20% and power is ready.. tap the pedal and it has a nice little jump right away... FYI- just got the car w/ the leak, so i don't know how its supposed to be stock.

After fix, the sensitive throttle response is gone, now i push the pedal and it seems like a regular car.. i.e. push pedal and it down shifts (no immediate jump) or stays in gear, but need to push harder so it down shifts and then goes. Any one know the issue? does the ecu need to reset itself? Or did the leak actually help performance? lol..

One quickly.. would replacing the Y-pipe, take away from the sound of the stock muffler? I love that sound, if anything i want that exact noise louder.

Thanks All!!

Not sure about the Y pipe thing but you could have a cat getting stopped up. Is your vehicle throwing any codes?

Try resetting the ECU. I had reset the ECU after having high flow cats installed. Prior to resetting it the throttle response was bad and the car felt bogged down. It can be very tricky to get the timing right and I'd suggest using a timer/stopwatch.

this worked for my G37, not sure about an 04 g35
