he is right, its so your old auto transmission would know when you were at WOT and downshift to give you more power.I dont think it holds you in gear to the possible rpm, thats the throttle valves job, but i could be wrong...grip_racer wrote:it's probably a kickdown switch.
automatic BMWs have them. it tell the ECU to downshift the transmission and then shift at the highest possible points in all gears.
like a button that puts the car into "sport mode" while flooring it.
