Got pulled over a few nights back and got harrased for my brake light. Wondering if anyone has had this problem before I start tearing into the harness.93 coupe, drivers rear light. The light is on when I have the head/parking lights on. When I step on the brake it completely shuts off. When I have the head/parking lights off, then it works just fine (although dimmer than the passenger side lights).

I have replaced all the light bulbs on the drivers side. The fuse box on the drivers kick panel are all fine. Don't know what else it could be. Do I need to replace the whole light assembly?

Also anyone know how to replace the bulb in the spoiler? Do I need to remove the whole spoiler to get to it or just pry the red cover off? I tried to pry but don't want to break it.

ThanksPS. Sorry to double post but I just remembered this area on the menu.

I was so hoping that was true but not on my case. All plastic looks good. Check the contact of all grounds to the main black plug on the back of the housing and all is good. Also checked the other contacts to the plug and all is good also. Wierd.

thanks

No, not the plug, the screw that holds the actual bulb sockets to the assembly. This screw is also the common ground for the bulbs, and if it doesnt get good contact, lights start acting weird.

I'm hearing you loud and clear. I wish that was the case.

I tested the plug and where the screw is to make sure that there is good connection at the bulb. And none of the bulbs were loose. All the screws were tight and none of the surrounding plastic are melted.

left - XX OO - right

Parking light on- XX OO (all on)Step on the brake- XX-off OO-brighter

Turn parking light off:Step on brake- XX-dimmer OO- brighter

Question is why is the left dimmer and why does it turn off when brake is being stepped on?

Couldn't be the stop light switch at the brake pedal since it works for the right (correct?).

I am stummped!

So Sorry!

It is the ground. Instead of just tightening, I removed the ground wire on each light housing and sanded it some and then screwed it and also soldered a side. That worked!

Thanks everyone and am very embarrassed.
