Put all new bulbs in not too long ago. The running light works just not when I press the brakes. I didn't see anything obvious that would cause a short. Wouldnt the fuse pop like it did before?kouki munster wrote:Put in a new bulb, it is uncommon but sometimes the bulb can cause issues like this, also check the wiring for any shorts to ground or broken conections.
This. The contacts on the bulbs might have melted together causing a short. I've had this happen in the 240 as well as my Corolla. Check the bulb and sockets for corrosion as well. Make sure there aren't any naked wires touching the frame of the car which could also cause a short. Could be a bad brake switch or brake stopper not closing the switch all the way.kouki munster wrote:Put in a new bulb, it is uncommon but sometimes the bulb can cause issues like this, also check the wiring for any shorts to ground or broken conections.
Thanks for the detailed response I fiddled with the switch on the brake fedal not too long ago made sure it was working and no wires were making contact they are working again now. Weird maybe it is that. Lol Im going to the junkyard tomorrow to see if I find another plactic piece.Lobo240sx wrote:This. The contacts on the bulbs might have melted together causing a short. I chased this similar problem for awhile all for a $5 piece of plastic on the brake pedal. The fuse didn't blow all the time.
It stopped right after I changed the bulbs (which the contacts were melted together on the bulbs) for awhile then it was back to it again a few months later. Ended up being the plastic brake stopper on the back of the brake pedal. Have you added any aftermarket lights to your car?? (fog lights, neons, etc)
You are better off going to the dealer and getting a new pair of brake stoppers. The ones at the junk yard are going to probably be old and crusty. I believe they are green now. They are only like 5 bucks.JayS13Project wrote: Thanks for the detailed response I fiddled with the switch on the brake fedal not too long ago made sure it was working and no wires were making contact they are working again now.
