weird behavior

while I was trying to start the car, it cranked over and started for a sec, then immediately died. I cranked it again and it did the same and was about to die when I stepped on the gas and it came alive. After driving for 20 min home, I shut it down and restarted it, and everything's fine.

Any idea what happened there? It's not cold, I'm in Atlanta.
