Hi all
Last week before going on a trip I left my J30T at the Oakland Airport parking lot. My friend went to pick it up. I had locked the car from the inside and gave him the extra key. For good measure i also left the only remote inside the car. So when my friend goes and opens the door with the key, the alarm goes off. After some futile attempts to get it to stop, the alarm stopped on its own, but the car would no longer start. He towed the car to his house. I asked him to disconnect the battery overnight, to see if that would get it started. It didn't...So after one week away, I went to pick up the car at his house. Checked al the fuses, all OK. Tried to start the car, no go, though dash lights would come on and power would flow through the circuitry. After some trials and failures, i figured out a way to start the car.
Disconnecting then reconnecting the battery produces a continuous clicking sound from underneath the steering wheel, somewhere near the cabin fuse box. When the sound is heard, I can start the car and drive normally. While driving, the sound isn't heard. Upon shutting the car off, the sound is not produced, and the car won't start unless I repeat the disconnection and reconnection of the battery.
Everything else in the car works as it did before...
I do want to take the car in for an inspection, but if this turns out to be a DIY project, i'd rather tackle it on myself.
Oh, I did read the various alarm related threads posted, but none has revealed a condition similar to mine.
I have also tried to find the alarm fuse and disconnect it, but i don't seem to be able to find it. Neither fuse box lists the fuse alarm in their diagrams.
Any ideas/help would be greatly appreciated.
