Shortly after I put my rb20det swap in the stock alternator went out within a month, so I put on the alternator of my sohc and put it on there 6 months ago.Now here comes the problem, since day one I had the car (about 7-8 months ago).

When I start the car it takes a while for the alternator the "turn on" almost. You can hear it when it cranks on, then the lights brighten up a little bit, it takes almost 30 seconds of driving above 2500 for it to start charging you can hear it.

So I am guessing its a problem with the voltage regulator inside it.

I am about to go on a 1000 mile trip and I really dont want this think to take a dump. So do you guys think I should just slap a rebuilt quest alternator and call it a day?

I wouldnt trust it on a 1000 mile trip. Just put a new one on and call it a day. Better safe than sorry!!!!
