I was driving down the interstate today, AC on non-recirculate, fan speed position ||||. All of a sudden, the fan stops blowing cold air...like I just turned off the blue AC button. I toggle the AC button off and the fan turned off...still in position ||||. I turn the fan speed switch to O and the fan turned on high. I toggle the AC switch on and the AC starts blowing high cold just like normal. So now the fan blows high in positions O, |, and ||. The fan turns off in positions |||, and ||||. When I turn on the green recirculate switch it blows extra high like normal so that switch seems to be operating as intended, but only in those three positions.

Anyone ever seen this or know a solution?

Maybe the fan control amp is on its way out...

Thanks for the tip. I just ordered one from RA. I looked through the FSM and it states the module is located on the blower box, but doesn't actually tell how to get there. Is this a dash control panel/stereo removal procedure or a under the dash procedure?

Thought I would update this for future reference of others. Turns out my issue was not the fan control amp. My issue was the blower speed switch itself. It shorted itself internally. Replaced it and all is working well again. At least this exercise did prompt me to also inspect and replace the cabin air filters...which by all appearances must have been the OEM filters as they had black stuff growing on them and were completely full of dirt. I'm not even sure how or if air was getting through them. This also prompted me to check and replace my wife's '08 Saturn Vue cabin air filters...they were almost as bad. Obviously I need to monitor those more closely.
