You are either growing that stuff in your crazy hydroponics lab or you live in a dream world to get anything decent for that price.

No, you will lose some of it. There is a great quote from Ed Byrd (one of the people that helped create the first creatine supplement) that i read but can't seem to find at the moment. He is advertising some new product of his and he says and unlike creatine you won't lose what you gained. But since i can't find that one...i'll give you this one. It's not as good but here: "You see, creatine creates "cell-volumizing" by pulling water into the small space "inside" the muscle cell. Although moderate and somewhat temporary, it makes your muscles visibly bigger." That quote was by Ed Byrd and it very well did say temporary.

ok, one my friend works at a health store that explains the creatine for protein you can get cheap protein at http://www.netrition.com.

What your talking about isnt the lose of muscle you talking about is the lose of mass aka water weight. I have never heard of mr byrds products..

Hmm...that stuff is pretty cheap. I wish i would have only paid that when i was taking creatine. As far as Ed Byrd, he was one of the main guys from EAS awhile back and now he has his own company called MRI.

There are a LOT of worthless supplements out there. I would not waste my money on them, even the good ones until I hit a serious plateau in training. If you're looking to gain weight/size, I would train hard and eat a lot. Eat eggs for breakfast. Eggs are the perfect protein. If you're worried about cholesterol, then get the egg white stuff that comes in the carton.

I have to do some work now, but I'll post more later.

Doogz - InstantRice is actually VERY correct.

The protein I take is 100% Whey, by Optimum Nutrition. 5 lbs (77 servings) = $21.99, 22g/protein per serving (and I double up on it).

I also like the "X-rated" protein supplement - It's virtually the same, but tastes a little better (but wasn't on sale last time I went.)

I believe Mr. Byrd's quote is in the Cell-Tech advertisements... What a load of hype. Again, InstantRice's comments were right on the money.

You shrink when you quit working out and quit eating right. Protein and creatine are the only 2 supplements that are proven effective AND that make sense from a $$$ and health standpoint.

You will shrink regardless. Creatine gives you false size via water retention and when you stop taking the creatine you will lose some size.

Ive been an avid weightlifter for years, and for your money the best supplement you can take is a good multi vitamin.

The only 3 things i've personally seen work for muscle building are creatine, eating alot, and just killing yourself working out. Any one of those would suffice, but my friend is about 5'8 and benches 245 after maybe a year and half total training. He was loading on creatine the whole time though, unfortunatly he started during his freshman year (he graduated this year) and that's why he's so short. It stunted his growth. I was going to go on creatine before I talked to him, then even consulted my doctor, and they both said it would stunt me. Seeing as i'm 6' already it wouldn't be too terrible but I could stand to gain a couple more inches. I don't know how old you are or if you think you are done growing, but chances are high you can't count on any more inches if you take it for more than 8 weeks or so I believe. Since creatine is a natually occuring amino acid (i believe it's an amino acid), and you create more once you are in the final stages of puberty, if you are taking it you body thinks you are done, and the growth plates in the legs or whatever close up, atleast thats how it was explained to me. So just think twice about creatine.

Give the whey protein a try, it certainly couldn't hurt, and just work out every chance you get. And pushups. Do pushups. I don't even see a need for anyone to bench press unless they can do 3 sets of 20 pushups atleast.

Muscle that you will lose. I'm not saying you can't get it back but when you stop taking creatine you will lose the muscle size and some strength. It won't be a whole lot but you will probably lose a couple reps on some of the stuff you did if you gained quickly. If creatine for you is more slowly working then you won't lose it but if it skyrockets your gains all of a sudden then when you drop off of it you will lose some of those gains. I have been on creatine 2 times and each time i took it for 2 months. The first time i made insane gains and when i stopped taking it i lost some of those gains that i made. The second time i took it, i noticed gains but they were at a slower pace and when i stopped taking it i noticed very little difference.

Toki i just cant believe that something that naturally occurs in your body would stunt your growth. Ive been taken it since my sophmore year of hs and if it would have stunted my growth i would have been ****ed. Im a 6'1 (6'2 w/ shoes) point guard.

Lastly doogz you dont lose strength you dont lose muscle. You lose size and the "momentum" that creatine gave you. If you kept popping on 10 pounds to your bench per week then forget it once your off the creatine. Gains will come much slower. You should probably read up on creatine. Its not a steriod, it doesnt mess with your testosterone or any other hormones. It also is a naturally occuring hormone in the body. The supplement that makes you lose muscle once you stop taking it is a steriod.

InstantRice, the explination I gave above has been proven. It doesn't ALWAYS happen, but when it does, that's why.

im fairly sure its not an amino acid but i could be wrong. I just read the stunted part. now that ive read the rest of it, bench pressing is pretty effective. especially if you believe in doing your sets at 65-70% of your max weight in order to do reps fast. For some people this gives incredible gains, never done it myself. Also you get a wider range of motion from benching, especially the dumb bell bench.

man theres alot of different opinions being thrown around:eek: ..i apreciate all of them btw, im pretty confused right now....i got more research to do , but i think im just gonna have to get into it and start trying out stuff on my own...so creatine works, but it COULD have negative effects on certain people, right? that would be the overall review on creatine then, thats what i got from reading the posts??

im gonna try to get on a steady workout plan, then try probly creatine for a certain amount of weeks...then probly like quoted earlier, ' a good multi-vitamin' ,and see which one im happiest with, so far i hear mega man for that. also what about protien bars or shakes? would those also work good to take with lifting? b/c i got hook ups at foodlion and we sell those there;)
