almost any engine that is of less hp in a stock nature can beat another engine that is of more hp in a stock nature IF its modified enough..a stock CA18 would not beat a stock SR20 unless the sr driver sucks and the ca one doesnt...idk about the weight of the motors but im pretty sure there isnt that much of a difference..you'll have to do a little more searching

My guess is that the CA18 and its iron block is heavier.

CA wieghs about the same as a KA

Sr isnt much lighter than a KA. At most 40-100 pounds. I do know the LS1 wieghs 20 pounds less than a KA though

Read the "where to buy engines" thread in the FAQ section of this forum. I dont think people have been happy with Jazzproparts. Dont go out with a motor just because it is cheap. Look for quality. If you have importer within a reasonable distance from you I would personally go there and select a motor. It is always good to do a compression and leak down test, look make sure all seals and gaskets look in good condition, check the turbo for shaft play and oil leak etc.

conflicting info.. i can't seem to find the thread but some dude weighed a bunch of nissan engines and the results were that the sr20det and ca18det are very close to the same weight. SR is a couple KGs lighter. They are both ~30lbs less than the ka24de. Online engine weights are sketchy, everybody weighs with their own ideas of what accessories (alternator and such) should be installed when on the scale. Theres no definate weight out online but this info seems to be the best in my opinion
