Hey, I just bought a 1990 240sx fastback and I was wondering, what's the easiest way to make it lighter? Or if you have any other opinions on places to start upping performance, feel free to throw them out there. This is basically my first car (I used to have a van when I was 16, but that doesn't really count) and I'm still learning how to tune it, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

you can also remove the sound insulation on the car, that is pretty heavy stuff.

that stuff is all free and great, but if you have cash lying around, there are other options...

carbon fiber hood/liftgatesilvia front end (no popup hardware) (this is second hand, might want to verify)light weight crank pulley, flywheel, driveshaft, wheels. will make the car feel lighter more so than it actually does. though you can save around 10 lbs on each part except the pulley. shave the audio system down to a set of decent front speakers and loose all the amps and rear speakers, they suck anyway. light weight battery, odessey i think.

replace auto belts with manual ones - canadian, JDM, or S14. make sure you get all the extra crap out too, there's a box under the armrest that controls everything i think.

Take out the rear seats. Take out the spare tire, jack, etc. Carbon fiber racing seats. Carbon fiber rear hatch, hood, fenders, etc. Everything that you can buy carbon fibe for pretty much.
