I have all the "reduction" described on my CA18DE Silvia except the fuel cell, SOON! The car feels like a feather. Oh If you haven't yet throw and electric fan on it if you have a belt driven one. I would like to run an electric water pump as well. People freak out and call me crazy but when I can pull a big old Silvia up next to a Hachiroku with the same power and run side by side in a race or carry a high comp carbed ZC Civic through four gears at will it's worth it!

ummm...why do you need the reduction in weight of the spare tire on a daily basis? I have a different driving style/location of course, but there are always those horrible places to get caught w/o a spare tire, and those where cell phones (AAA isn't omnipotent) run out of range.

Oh yeah, and if you stop eating the car will be alot lighter at the track:pokeWhen you said that you removed your passenger seat, do you mean that you remove it for races, or everyday driving too? Don't you have friends/a live away from your car? :rolleyez

Save your money. You already have an electric fan.

Fix o flat, hmmm...my friends used to use that on their bicycles, worked, but added around 3lbs to each tire, which isn't exacltly good in the bike business, where 40 grams is a big weight savings.

See, that's why I'm going for a quiet but free flowing cat and a blow off valve that does it's job without producing too much noise, I like having some semblance of a sex life :smoker

Also, I don't want to have to buy a 12" sub and two 1k watt amps just to hear my music :poke

There's alot of performance parts out there that will significantly lower the weight of your car, when done together:

* Big Brake Kit's* Full Coilover Kits* Lightweight rims* Lightweight tires* Aftermarket bucket seats* aftermarket batteries* aftermarket steering wheels

You could also replace most of the glass in your car with plexiglass.

Out of all the weight reductions, weight lost at or near the suspension will be felt the most, especially for autocrossing events.

i don't think big brakes are a weight reduction, usually they add weight, my weight reduction on my 90 240 is as follows:no ac, no power steering, interior completly removed. rear wiper and wiper motor, front wipers and wiper motor, cruise control, remove radio and all speakers remove heater core( this means you will have no heat of defrost this isn't a daily driver obviously) take that huge piece of metal out from under the dash, remove front and rear bumper supports (not so safe but weight is not my friend) carbon fiber hood or fiberglass (don't have yet) move battery to the trunk and if you want to go nuts lexan windows and fiberglass body panels which i have not done, and if you really want to go nuts which i don't recommend is take a hole saw to your front frame rails which will reduce weight but also greatly reduce the structure strength of the car and that is my guide to weight reduction :D i'll take some pics of what i have done so far in a little while

If you're talking about swapping brakes from another nissan, then yeah, they will weigh more. But if you buy a real brake kit from wilwood or brembo, they're typically lighter than stock. Most of the weight reduction comes from the rotors, theres not much that can be done for the calipers.

You can drop 3+ lbs per wheel, and that's rotational mass, which is the best kind to lose.

my plan(gotta have girls in my car)

-light wheels(volk gram lights)(done)-C/f hood-Plexi rear windows, possibly pass/driver side door window-under drive pulley(done)-chromoly flywheel(done)-light weight lug nuts(yes, believe it or not, saved nearly 1lb per wheel)(done)-C/F driveshaft-Fiberglass front end-C/f backed or fiberglass backed seats

lots of other little things, too. but those are the major things. Im shooting for a curb weight of around 2300lbs. that in addition to a turbo KA, pushing 300hp or so should be quite fun at the track, as well as handle very nicely.-chet

Then again you could always go the route of every RWD dragger in the biz, put some of those skinny@$$ rollerskate wheels on the front.
