Hello, I am thinking about getting a 300zx NA because I don’t think I will be able to afford the TT. I was wondering what it would take to get a 2 seater hatch down to around 3000 lbs? (While keeping it a Daily Driver) I don’t want to put a body kit on it… IMO they look good without them. And how much hp should I expect from doing the basic mods: Exhaust, ECU, CAI, and maybe an Underdrive Pulley?

Thanks

ps: Yes, I did use the flashing search button...

if you take every available mod (intake, exhaust, headers, ECU, and cams) you'll be lucky to hit 300 crank hp, as for thw eight redustion, I found loads of insulation backing the interior trim panels, I assums the N/A has the same stuff, you can remove all the insulation behind the panels and still have a full interior and you'll only gain a little more road noist, also the seats are heave, lightweight aftermarkets without all the poser stuff will save a bunch of weight, you can pull all the heat and air stuff depending on how serious you are about weight, remove the stereo and speakers, replace the battery with a lightweight Oddysey battery (that alone saves a good 20 lbs) and you can replcate ti while your at it, lightweight aftermarket wheels will reduce curb weight while decreaded rotating mass will increase your WHP (a set of 16"x 8" racing wheels will cost you about $2000 but will only weigh about 12 lbs each) jsut depends on what your willing to sacrifice to save wight and gain power

and you should note I have a turbo 240Z that weighs 2105lbs, no heat, no stereo, no interior, just 2 seats and a dash

Thanks for the help. Do you know if those basic mods would lower the gas mileage?

the ECU and cams might reduce your milage but ultimately how hard you drive ti makes the most difference, my Z32TT gets between 13-21 mpg, just depends on how heavy my foot feels

You can get the weight down quite a bit....I believe I posted a list of what all weight reduction I've done. If you don't find it I'll compile a list again for ya

As for horsepower. Unless you build an all out NA motor......you can expect about 200whp with all the available bolt ons. Yes that's it.

What gas mileage? I went from a stock manual 240SX, 32MPG hwy to a pretty much stock '91 2+2 NA manual, 20 MPG hwy. But, I wouldn't go back for nuttin'! Good luck! OSCN

Bam, check it out, best list around for the Z

btw easy HP in a pop charger and swapping engine fan for a 12v will give you a cheap HP points, which is what I'm about most ofd the time

enjoy
