Hi,
I was wondering if the loss of grip I have been experience in the rain and on dry launches could be fixed...

I have an 04 350z base, 3188lbs stock kerb weight
I took out the following,:
spare wheel and tools -50lbs (350z wiki)

unknown single exit 3" -24lbs
exhaust (weighs 22lbs)

1/8 tank of fuel -110lbs
---------------------------------------------------------
-184lbs (83.6kg)

brings the car down to 3004lbs (1356.4kg) which is only 100kg more than an s2000

To be honest, I was surprised by the change in acceleration on 40kmph-120kmph runs.. It made the car pull significantly harder

But, I can not launch as good 0-60 as I could before and the rear end keeps sliding all over the place when it rains....and I have an open differential, so its unpleasant slipping and not drifting

So, I looked at the weight removed... which was 184/3188 = 5.7% of the weight but only from the rear end...

which probably gave me around a 56.25%F : 43.75%R weight distribution...to simplify, a 56:44 weigh distribution

Which explained the loss of grip at the rear end cuz the weight distribution is actually worse than 56:44. The rear suspension lifts as you take off the weight, which transfers even more weight to the front

Apart from a lightweight battery relocation, is there anything that would allow to bring it closer to a 50:50 weight distribution??

The following I believe would help but they would not be enough to fix the weight distribution
empty windshield reservior, -10lbs Front
Battery relocation, -(20-25lbs) front, +(20-25lbs) rear
resonated test pipes -20lbs (est) front
...leaving a 100lbs+ bias to the front

only if I was allowed to drive with the doors and hatch off the car =/...actually, Ill look into that

Could I lower only the rear end of the car??

Yes, with aftermarket adjustable suspension though. Or cutting the rubber spring mounts

I meant my 0-60kmph timed runs were slower after weight reduction due to loss of traction.

My question about lowering the rear referred to the cars performance and not if its physically possible to lower it.

What I've noticed since I've the same and more is the car doesn't need you to drop the clutch the same way as before! As you mentioned the car pulls harder. So naturally less it need to get it going. I'm no drag racer and that is what's needed to get you use to your car...more time at the strip...

I'm down to 3000lbs without driver and quarter tank
