SCC did a SR swap. In the article, they mentioned the weights of KA24DE vs SR20DET.

ka 493 poundssr20det 490 poundsrb25det 720 poundsgood thing I got an 89 240 coupe, the lightest 240 to date. I see a lot of s14 240 RB25DET swaps but these cars are still about 300 pounds heavier than my S13 coupe.

RB25 trans is much heavier than rb20

My s14 with some weight reduction (still full interior with racing seats) with the rb20 was around 2660 lbs

Be prepared to accept more weight with the RB25DET. Fully dressed with both crossmembers and the steering rack attached (but no A/C), the KA24DE weighs about 540 pounds. With two more cylinders, a much beefier transmission and a turbocharger, the RB25DET weighs about 720 pounds. That's an extra 180 pounds to accelerate, stop and turn. Good thing it makes more power.

this is right off the sport compact car website.. the weight is for both transmission and crossmember...I know where he got the 720 from just dont know about the 493 for the ka??

I've heard rumors like 45-60lbs more than a KA24de

scc on all numbers

Our engine, which came in a complete front clip, was an early red top with 60,000 kilometers on it. With the transmission, turbo and alternator, the SR20DET weighs 490 lbs. The KA24E we removed weighed 493 lbs.

Be prepared to accept more weight with the RB25DET. Fully dressed with both crossmembers and the steering rack attached (but no A/C), the KA24DE weighs about 540 pounds. i know, i know, they say 493 on the sr20 swap how to, and 540 on the rb25 swap how to; what ev's.
