Without physically having to dismantle my trunk lid and weighing it, does anyone know the actual weight of the trunk for an '03 Infiniti I35? I'm wanting to purchase gas shocks to modify the opening and closing of the trunk lid. Thx in advance for your responses.

found on this site... http://www.autofieldguide.com/....html

pertaining to the altima: The Altima has an aluminum hood and trunk lid, which contribute to the car's lightness. The 18-lb. hood has deep, faceted character lines to add rigidity, while the 12-lb. trunk lid has a broad, arching upper surface to perform the same task. Nissan says steel panels would have weighed 44 lbs. and 28 lbs., respectively.[/quote]i would say at the least, maybe 30 lbs shocks would do the trick, the trunk lids from the i35 and the altima look similar in size. if you get this done, please do post a tutorial or atleast the finished product.
