hey guys how much weight difference do you think or know there is between lets say a 2.5 base model and a 2.5 fully loaded. I would figure the leather, CD changer, more Speakers, GPS, etc would add more weight but about how much do you think? Im saying it cus i raced some kid after class , he had a white 2.5, his 2.5 AClooked fully loaded(rims, turn signals, fogs) and we only went to 60 but i was ahead about a car length....

Both CVT or stick? Was one car running longer then the other (warmed up)? Did you both floor it? Shifted at the right spots?

lots of questions that I cannot answer.

As far as weight, not sure, 100-200 pounds?

If I were to take a guess (and I've actually wondered the same) I would guess somewhere between 40 to 60 LBS (that's about 18.14 to 27.21 kgs. for our Canadian friends here). I once read an article from some tuner mag. that claimed that for every 19lbs. shed from the car is like gaining 1hp, and for every 21lbs. shed is like gaining a foot pound of torque. This can also go against you for cars gaining weight, so if you have a hundred pounds of sound system in your trunk is like losing 5hp. Does your friend have a system; if so you could have around a 140 to a 160 lbs on him which would be like a 7 to 8 hp gain on him.

I would say that as well, a fully loaded car would easily add at least 100 lbs with all the additional electronics and features, front seats are probably 15lbs more each due to the motors and everything. as far as the weight savings, it's been fairly well established that 100lbs= about .1 sec in the 1/4mile as well as 1hp (i've researched this a fair bit). but one thing is did he have aftermarket rims because that could make a very big difference.

hmm well i dont know the kid...he just goes to my school and he made some sign to race so i was like ok lol but i figure he had the premium package cuz liek i said he had the 18" nissan rims, side mirror turn signals, sunroof, and fogs, therefore im guessing he had the whole nine with electric everything, gps, leather seats. So i guess u guys are right. wow thats interesting....19lbs = 1 hp....ima go on a 100lb losing streak lol . So wait what difference would it make if it were aftermarket wheels? faster slower?

it depends on how heavy they are. a wheel setup heavier then stock is like adding lead weights to the car, basically 10lbs extra wheel weight is like an extra 100lbs on the body.i am going to assume 18" alloys are heavier then your steelies(?) maybe? the combination of the two could explain your beating him in my mind if his wheels actually were heavier along with everything else he had! on a side note, does anyone know the weight of the alloy wheels/tires, i'm curious.

yea well i got hubcaps...so iono if thats refered to steelies?? but yea i know some allow rims weight around 21 lbs each for 18"(depending on type) but as far as tires.....i would guesstimate around 50 lbs each

If he had the alloy wheels, his car would probably have weighed more

Weight makes a difference.. you said he had aftermarket wheels? that affects alot and he probly had a different type of tire and he had a full tank regular gas. do you use premium? Gas grade makes difference too. you have any mods? you didnt mention that. if he has the premium package he must have a sound sytem installed that and the wheels must weight alot!

well he had the 18" nissan rims and i use regular but i mean i was just wondering if anyone knew the weight difference. I know more weight means less power available, it makes sense, but im looking more for numbers. Ima guess around 300 lbs difference maybe. 18s weigh more, so does leather, navi, power seats, etc

Ok well for those who were interested or curious as well as me, I looked at my registration and it says the Weight is 3001 lbs. It says that under (EW-Estimated weight) and GW(Gross weight). So iono if any other states other than Virginia put the weight on the registration.
