I never "bagged" on anyone with the RB motor... all i said was that there would be a signifigant weight difference on the front end... I duno where he got the rest of that from...maybe i was drunk when i said it, because i don't remember saying that rb motors are pieces of junk...oh wait .. i remeber having the argument over sr20 vs rb20 because i thought it would be a waste of time to have a heavier motor that was making the same amount of horsepower as the lighter one...

BUT THE POSSIBILITIES FOR THE EXTRA TWO CYLINDERS ARE ENDLESS COMPARED TO THE FOUR. ITS ALSO HELPS SPOOL A TURBO FASTER, CAN BE STROKED UPTO 2.5L (WITH RB26 2.7L STROKER KIT. IT HAS FULL BOOST BY 3000RPM, A REALLY LATE REDLINE, SMOOTH STROKE, ALL KINDS OF HEAD COMBINATIONS, THE ABILITY TO MAKE CLOSE TO 1000HP IF NOT MORE, THE LIST OF POSSIBLITIES ARE ENDLESS AND IT OUT WEIGHS BY FAR THE EXTRA 100 OR SO POUNDS. OHH AND ONE PHRASE: IRON BLOCK

Nissan tested the RB bolck(I believe the RB26...) up to 1600 HP before the block cracked. That is kinda impressive if you ask me.

I wonder what the aluminum block started disintegrating at.....

ALL ITS TAKES IS MONEY AND TUNING. THE REASON THERE ARE RB20 IN THE 1000HP AREA IS BECAUSE EVERYONE JUST MOVES TO ANOTHER MOTOR (JUST LIKE WHY THERE ARE FEW HIGH HP KA24S AROUND). ALL THE RBS ARE DESIGNED THE SAME JUST CHANGED FOR APPLICATION.

YEAH WELL I'M TEETERING ON THE EDGE OF GETTING OUT OF ALL THIS TO SAVE SOMETHING SPECIAL TO ME.

YEAH ARGUING ABOUT WHAT MOTOR IS BETTER IS STUPID BECAUSE THERE IS NO BETTER MOTOR, EVERYTHING CAN BE REDESIGNED TO MEET NEEDS BUT THE ENIGNES INITIAL DESIGNS HAVE A PURPOSE EXCEPT FOR THE KA24 IN THE 240 (I STILL FEEL THAT NISSAN MADE A MISTAKE WITH THIS).

The alternative is that we would never get a 240SX at all. They did this because it is a tried and true motor that would pass emissions and provide a reliable (if lacking) powerplant. Look on the bright side, Nissan could have said screw it and not blessed us at all, like with the Skyline.

YEAH TRUE BUT THE SR20 WAS ALSO IN CARS PASSING SO WAS NUMEROUS OTHER POWERFUL ENGINES THAT THEY COULD HAVE ADAPTED.

HELL EVEN IF THEY PUT A VG30DE IN THERE IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A WAY BETTER CHOICE THAN THE KA24

You would have gotten the SR20DE, not andything special and not much low end torque, the KA at least has the kick down low.

that is very true... The ka makes it up hills without a problem, and has a nice power band down low.... it has next to no high end power though... It has been a good motor to me so far.. and I have even beaten many hondas on the street when i was in stock trim... that impressed me quite a bit. It even had enough power to drift it in certain situations...
