I don't know if anyone's posted this before, .... but we just corner-balanced my friend's S13 hatch w/ an RB25, and Tein HE's.I thought some people might be interested.

54.4% front45.6% rear

The car 'Originally' weighed in at 3,014.5 LBS w/driver, and just under a half tank of gas. F/R distro: 54.3%, 45.8%.Corner weights were as follows:fL: 894 fR: 741.5 (Difference of: 152.5 lbs!!)rL: 672 rR: 708 (Diff of: 36 lbs)

~When all was said and done, it was as follows, w/driver:fL: 847.5 fR: 792 (Diff of: 55.5 lbs)rL: 714.5 rR: 660 (Diff of: 54.5 lbs)

So basically, the entire driver side is about 55 lbs heavier with a driver in the car, ... and on a half tank of gas.

"Without" a driver in the car, .... the weights came out as follows:fL: 771 fR: 774.5 (Diff of: 3.5 lbs)rL: 632 rR: 625 (Diff of: 7 lbs)

We called it quits before we tried to distribute more of the weight to the rear, ... that will have to wait unitil after a few more mods. ;)

cheers :)Sean

I just want to personally thank you from the c*o*c*k*les of my heart for putting an end to this horrible arguement that the RB messes with the balance.

Did you by any chance weigh the car before dropping the RB25 in?

Btw, this should be posted on Freshalloy. Those guys are constantly bad-mouthing the RB's for upsetting the balance and weight. Not that any of them would know, having never had driven an RB powered car.

3000 lbs isn't bad. That's still a few hundred pounds less than a 300ZX or even a Vette.

no, But we will try to weigh another car that is stock, S13 coupe and hatch, and then an S14.I'm putting an RB26 in my S14, so I will weigh it before and after as well.

We're planning on shooting for the G's 'ideal' weight distribution of 53% f, 47% r.

That is awesome, thank you very much for the information.

You said the car has Tein HE's on it right? Where were the settings at the beginning vs. the end? Nice to see someone taking full advantage of having coilovers!

Also could you list the mods done to the car.... interior gutted or not... spare tire, relocated battery, aftermarket front end, front reinforcement bar.

Well, to try and answer the question about the coilover 'settings', ... originally everything was set up equally, RF=LF, RR=LR. [Basically, for the fronts, measuring from the top of the spring to the lower spring seat was at 6.5 in., ... and then 9.5 in from the top of the spring to the lower bracket.] If that makes sense. ;)

Anyway, I guess what you really may be asking is how much we changed it. ;) So before adjusting anything, the front was: 6.5 in., 9.5 in., both sides. After adjusting it was: FR: 6.25 in, 9.75 in; FL: 6.5 in, 9.25 in.So that shows what a minor change will do for weight distribution. BUT, remember we still adjusted the rear, and adjusting any corner affects other corners. But basically, that's the short-n-sweet of it. :)

as far as mods, .... it has a full interior, no spare, battery relocated to where the spare was, full Battle Version adj suspension components, Tanabe front and rear sway bars, rear strut bar, on 16" Volk's w/245's in the rear, 225's in the front (I Think), stock dented body parts ;).

i think that's it. :)

I think Mark from Slide Squad mentioned tha this car was easier to drift with an RB in it. Must be that thing where you can rotate around the nose.
