Hey guys, what is the weight difference between the q45 calipers and the z32 aluminum or iron cast calipers? I want to do a brake upgrade but I want less unsprung weight but dont want it to take a huge bite out of my wallet.

Since the calipers don't rotate their weight is not in the same class [less effect on braking] as wheels - tires, however the aluminum 4 piston surely weigh less than the other two alternatives.

All in all I would want highest weight to help sink the heat and protect the wheel bearings.........the Q45 rotor [28mm thick] and calipers are more than enough for the 240sx and won't require special 16" wheels or stand 17" wheels/tires which will equalize the weight savings of the aluminum calipers.

The rear J30 or 97+ Q45 caliper uses a thicker 16mm vented rotor vs the 90-96 solid 9mm rear rotor caliper. The fronts of both are standard 28 mm vented. Try to find a wrecked J30

This is the best info I've seen in some time! Sourcing Q45 fronts w/ rotors and J30 rears w/rotors will be my next move...

Thankyou Q45tech!
