Vac delete and weber carb install vac lines how it should be!!!!

made a mistake on my install thought I'd post this up so yall would have an easier time than I did with it.

vac lines from carb. the top fitting is your vapor outlet 1/4 id tubing but you can get by with 5/16th ( i just use fuel lines. I ran it into the rail then out the other side to the purge on the charcoal canister.

the bottom line is vac advance for the dizzy (1/8th inch or 16th inch id tubing I think) it connects to the port next to the mixture screw. ran it into the rail then t'd it after the rail one line to the dizzy one to the vac from diz port on the charcoal canister, and thats it for lines from the carb minus fuel.

lines from carb to rail.

the outet of the rail under the exhaust side near the dizzy

where I T'd the vac advance line one goes to dizzy the other to vac on the charcoal cannister

this is the charcoal cannister and the connections
Image

just used vac plugs to plug the unused vac stuff on the intake. going to get some 1/4 inch npt plugs (plumbing stuff) and close those ports eventually.

egr valve was delete and capped no smog here

hope this helps future inexperienced carb installers! or vac line deletion enthusiasts.

ps... its recommended never use rtv on carb gaskets

no prob just hope it helps, would have saved me a ton of time the prev owner had everything all whacked and it really messed me up on my carb install. all thats left to delete is the charcoal canister. what did you do with vapor vent and the tank line? also what are you running ignition wise pezi? have you upgraded any of it? I'm thinking about calling pertonix and see if they'll make a billet style distributor for us. The only thing I've read about electric was on an msd site where the tech recommends two 6a boxes to a potential customer lol. Of course he would I wonder if he gets a commission those things aren't exactly cheap.

For my setup, the vapor vent on the carb is just capped, and the hard line to the tank just has a breather filter on it. The whole canister system is gone. As far as ignition I'm running aftermarket wires, pulstar pulse plugs and just a crapload of timing. I don't really see the need in upgrading it too much considering that for my build, an engine swap is in the future.

so stock ignition coils, you must have modified your distributor to get more advance out of it? namely the bracket at the base of the carb that limits advance / retard? i'm going to delete my charcoal cannister too then, you don't know the type of breather filter you fitted on the fuel outlet to the cannister do ya?

Haven't modified the distributor yet. It is fully advanced though. The plugs are insane to say the least, they spark with 20,000x more power than a traditional plug.

The breather I used was basically the smallest K&N they make. Can't remember the part # off hand though.

and those plugs run on stock coils or did you change them too? I need to deal with my fire now so I'll know its good. my dizzy is full advance too, I was wondering if that is normal but apparently it is no pinging or nothing I think I could actually advance it more if that bracket wasn't there and it would be even better.

Yeah, still on stock coils. The pulstars are known to run best on the stock setups. Match them with MSD and things can get screwy. It's always my suggestion for anyone looking for some extra power without trying to throw down the money for MSD type stuff, though.

Technically, no. In order to offer up something like that, you have to be an approved advertiser for the site.

Hey guys, you might know the answer to my question.

I have a stock carb cause weber isn't in my budget right now, but i have taken out the emissions stuff. All i have hooked up right now is the distributor vacuum advance to the carb. the rest is all blocked off besides the PCV to the air filter and another hose that comes from the exhaust manifold to the air filter.

do I need any other hoses hooked up or disconnected?
For example do i need my distributor hose to have a t in it with a hose going to charcoal canister?

thanks

you can delete the charcoal canister and just put a breather filter on the hardline going to the gas tank. in which case you don't need to t. if you want the charcoal canister to function then yes you need to provide vacuum to the dohicky that looks like the dohickey on your dizzy.

I know you aren't playing with the 720 anymore pez. but I saw a setup where a guy was running the intake plugs on a msd 6al and running the exhaust off the dizzy. Also read that the exhaust plugs only fire during idle and low rev. It allows for better combustion and optimizes advance in low rpm range. After a threshold the ignition module stops firing the exhaust plugs. WIth an msd or pertronix setup I would think you could delete the exhaust plugs altogether as such setups double fire the intake plugs anyway. It would be nice to be able to map ignition. Would make blow through turbo feasible.
