Just picked up a steel of a deal. 1984 720 king can 4x4. 700$ “Stock z24 engine” I believe stock carb.. no ac.. and have no clue how to add pictures. 👍

Has been sitting for a few years, after a new fuel pump, clean fuel and a battery she runs ehh.. yes it has all the vac lines most look great for the most part. No changes when spraying carb cleaner to check for leaks.. Going to tune up, check timing, replace plugs, wires, cap and rotor along with some other things I think.. hopefully it’s good to go after that... but..

My question is.. can I or is it possible to install a Webber and keep all the vac lines and bs to remain compliant for smog. Being in the great state of California. I get to keep it “stock” but within limits of course. Just curious if adding a Webber is possible in this state and staying compliant. I would love to remove all the vac lines etc ... but.. I think I’m stuck with them for now..

And ideas suggestion or input?

TIA Z

Welcome aboard, Z!

Unfortunately, living in [expletive deleted], you'll be on the hook for emissions testing for ANY 1976 and newer vehicles according to state emission law. As such, I'm going to guess that the Weber would put you outside of the Fuhrer's realm of acceptability, unless the carb specifically states it is CARB-Compliant.

Pics hosted elsewhere (such as Flickr or Imgur) can be added by using the [IMG] tags - there's a tutorial at the top of the forum.

Glad to have you here!

So I guess a more simple question is, are there any Weber’s that may be compliant? If not I wonder if it’s possible to have that vacum stuff “look” connected and still have a Weber on and pass smog. My smog guys out here are cluless so I would assume if it looked legit and still ran good numbers I would be good. Don’t know if anyone has tried or done something similar.
