on my 89 coupe i can push down on the trunk, (while it's already closed,) and it will go all the way own and hit metal on metal. does this mean the weather stripping/molding is bad? is it hard to reaplce on my own? also my gas cap door won't pop open when i pull the handle inside my car. i have to use my key to open it. is it just the retaining peice that isn't working right? thanks for any help possible.

don't know about yours but a lot of cars have two rubber stoppers. one on each side of the underside of the trunk. they should come into contact with the body of the car and prevent rattling and movement like you mentioned

If you use force you can collapse the seal with out to much trouble. You can water test it with a garden hose and line the trunk with dry news paper to see where it might leak in. Use alittle pressure to simulate rain or the force you may use to rinse the car when washing. The cable control for the gas lid is behind the trim panel in the trunk on the fuel door side. The cable end usually comes apart for the fuel door latch or it breaks off. You may have to replace the cable assembly which means removing the trim and the rear lower seat cushion to get to the cable.

Are these replacable?

Are these all plastics/metals whatever on the sides between glass, body, etc... replacable. Are these what's called 'weather stripping'

Please let me know, because when my body was being redone/repainted, some of these things caught paint.. plus they are old

My car is a 1991 240sx fastback...

Thank you...

Can they be ordered from Nissan or?!... I don't know I'm asking

call a dealer or go to a dealer and let them know you're looking for mouldings. Yes they can get expensive.

The weather stripping for my hatch alone was 120. look around for pricing for your trunk if you've a coupe

the doors about 50-60 a side, the lower mouldings for the doors are about 100 a side

the windshield moulding you get with a new windshield or if you get someone to replace the seals

mouldings for your side view mirrors are now discontinued

the rubber mouldings for the s13fb's are available only with new quarter panel windows from the dealer, not sure about the coupes although I suspect you can get those with a window reinstall but definitely for a new window.

the sunroof, not sure about those mouldings if they're still being made. call
