I noticed today the weather strip on my driver door is falling apart from rubbing against it getting in/out of the car in parking lots without door dinging. After taking a look at this stuff it's really crappy material...I have 2 1952 Chryslers with the original weather strip in tact!

I checked the other doors and you can see fatigue and the material has compacted & not re-expanded, leading me to believe this will create noise problems in the future.

Anyone else experiancing this issue?

Where on the door is this issue?? A few of us are having the scratch issue on the bottom... zerothread/331851. I have not studied the rest of the door.

I have the scratching at the bottom of the door too; but I'm talking about the weather strip about waist high where you rub against when you get into your car after someone parks too close...it's like paper & tears when you rub up against it

Glad it's not just me. I noticed the same problem this week, and was so surprised at how thin the rubber stripping was. Will be taking it to the dealer soon to have it replaced with something stronger (hopefully).

I agree, I am SOOO dissappointed that Nissan obviously cheaped out on a very important component - the door seals/weather stripping, including on the back hatch. I drive a lot of different vehicles for work, including the cheap Dodge Nitro, Chrysler Sebring, Ford Escape, and all of these vehicles have MUCH BETTER quality rubber seals than the Rogue, easily 3 or 4 times as strong. The Rogue seals are so flimsy you could easily tear them just with your finger nail, and I haven't encountered any other vehicle that even comes close to having this problem. My dog jumped in the back, and made a big rip in the seal along the bottom, I couldn't believe it! I had a Jimmy for like 10 years, and had 2 big dogs jumping in and out repeatedly and the weather strip looked like new when I got rid of it, and now with the Rogue the cheap crap is torn within the first few months??!!

My question is: Is it reasonable for me to go to the dealer and ask for all of the weather stripping/door seals to be replaced with higher quality material? Even though I'm dissappointed in the quality, I'm not sure I'm justified in making this request, as I should've checked it out before I bought this vehicle. Between this issue, the garbage transmission that rattles and Nissan refusing and/or not knowing how to fix it, and the lower door sill scratching issue, I am starting to wonder if I made the right choice purchasing this vehicle.

And for the guy who is asking "where is this weather strip?", it is EVERYWHERE, around the perimeter of every door.

For anyone who complained to the dealer about this, what was the results? Are they even able to offer an upgrade, or would they just order in cheap crap to replace it with anyway? Maybe I should just replace it all myself?

There's no way you can check EVERYTHING before buying a car. You will find something wrong with it or something that you don't like later on. So go ahead and do this request to a dealer since this is a mistake from Nissan which should be covered by Nissan. What's the difference for a dealer who's going to pay....Manufacturer or customer?

Maybe I'm just lucky? I haven't so much as put a scratch on any of the weatherstripping. I'm constantly putting everything in my Rogue... tools, boxes, the dog, camping equipment, mountain bikes, snowboards... i even fit 2 single stage snow blowers with the seats folded! I don't have a single tear anywhere.
