I have a '97 Pickup which runs well, even with 132000 miles. It began life in southern NM, and now resides in Michigan. Why do I mention that? Because since I moved here 2 years ago, I've noticed a little hiccup in the truck's performance. It seems once the fall rains hit my truck has learned some bad behavior. When it pours out, the truck runs well. When it is sunny out, it runs well. But when there is moisture on the ground, leaving stop lights can be an adventure.

The truck acts like it is almost out of fuel, stuttering and threatening to stall. I have no acceleration. It clears up after 5 minutes of driving, and really only occurs during the previously mentioned atmospheric conditions, making it difficult to diagnose.Last year I changed the plugs, wires and even distributor cap but didn't notice any change.

Yesterday, it did it badly enough that the Service Engine Soon lit, though it did eventually turn off (three errands later, 2nd time I had started the vehicle since the problem occurred)Any thoughts? Anyone else with this experience? How did you solve it?

Thanks.

when idleing push down on the harness at the rear of the valve cover where it bends down before it climbs up the the cowl. it may be grounding out to the valve cover. also try moving the hole harness along the valve cover forward and back slowly. do the push down thing first you only need to put slight pressure down on the harness. it may have worn through where it sits over a bolt in the valve cover. if the forward and back movement causes it to stumble you may have a bad ground splice inside the harness loom.(thats a fun repair)NOT. you may also have an air flow meter try wiggling the harness to the air flow. see if it causes it to go stupid. try these things let me know back which made it stumble. or if none of it did it. its defenitly an electric problem cause condensation moisture is the worst enemy of electronics.
