I disagree with the policy and the fallen idea that sent the troops over there, to me...its a waste of good american blood and sweat.

I support the troops over there, even if I disagree with the reasoning behind it.

I think 89240sx(jon?) would agree.

I like depleted uranium, nothing will punch a hole through metal or concrete quite like it. There's nothing quite like 5000 rnds a minute cyclic rate of my mini gun. Sure, if you get a small sliver from the heavy metal the wound might not ever heal, but thats why I'm on the giving end. So come on board for the big win.

I am in the military too and I think that story while true (maybe) is a little overexagerated. First off when I went to Saudi Arabia, i went in civilian clothes and left in civilian clothes. My friend just came back from Kuwait...left in civies, came back in civies. Secondly you NEVER travel in DCU's. to my knowledge. UNLESS you flew military, in which case, you wouldnt arrive at a civilian airport. Which goes to the third, when you leave your place of deployment, your flights are ALREADY booked, guaranteeing you a flight.....so I dont know. Seems overglorified. I support the troops over there because I know how it is, I have lived the deployed life, but I laughed at that story last week when I got it in my email at work

No not Jon... but yes I never said we should NOT support our troops .....see this is one of the things that really annoys me is that.... if you disagree with something to do with military action or this administration you are automatically non patriotic ... non American or people tell you to move to France.... or you are some liberal and blah blah ....

Now think about this! If it was not for people like me and our strong will to make 100% sure what we are doing here and overseas is the right thing to do ....... How much do you think this or any other administration that behaves so would get away with?

I was stating that the article was very far right and probably is way off of the actual facts and probably not true. It to me looks like neoconservative propaganda to help cover up the fact that this entire war and regime change is and always will be an unnecessary mess.

Yes this war is a waste of our work and it is a fallen policyThe simple fact is that this administration rushed into something without thinking it all the way through and this is something we have to LIVE with not LIKE. Their failures in diplomacy have resulted in catastrophe

I know 40% of america thinks this war is necessary thankfully... I am not part of that 40%.

And to the comment about the depleted uranium ... I hope that was sarcasm :-) because a lot of people (including our troops) are sufferring from that poison and it is an unnecessary force to be used... especially in urban areas such as Baghdad.

Depleted uranium is not a "poison".

Let's just say this: You agree we should support our troops, right?

The story quoted actually DID happen, a witness to it actually works with me (finance director).

So, there's no need to make it more than it is - It's just a nice gesture by a bunch of AMERICANS for other AMERICANS showing their gratitude and support.

Not everything is a conspiracy... :rolleyes

That's where you're wrong - Are these not your words?

"I never said we should NOT support our troops"

p.s. You mentioned: "If it was not for people like me and our strong will to make 100% sure what we are doing here and overseas is the right thing to do."

You give yourself WAY too much credit - Your influence is minimal at best. And what you consider "the right thing to do" is very simply what's "the right thing to do" in YOUR mind. Right is relative.

And to say that my influence is minimal is unnecessary ... every voice in this country has influence... and yes I do use my voice to make things known... I've wrote congressman about this war and other topics such as the bill to take away overtime.

What have you done?

So is that why there are birth defects in Iraq from the first war and in Afghanistan and not to mention high amounts of uranium in civilian urine?

And let's not forget the reports that depleted uranium is causing Gulf War Syndrome in our troops.

Hmmmm.

Birth defects in Iraq probably have NOTHING to do with poor nutrition, rampant drug use, and byproducts of mining/drilling/refining/manufacturing in the country? Keep in mind, they have no enviro-geek EPA watchdogs in Iraq.

Nooooooo, it MUST be the minute traces weapons-grade uranium contaminants. :rolleyes

Did you read all of them? No. You just did a search for articles that CONTAINED the 2 words uranium and poison. That doesn't mean that all 54 support your viewpoint.

But then again, liberals usually aren't very good at presenting factual evidence to back their assertions.

Couldn't have come from Chernobyl? Remember, theyre the ones who wanted to cruise merrily along without the NRC.

My point is this is hearsay.

Besides, they have bigger things to worry about - I'd take uranium poisoning over living under an oppressive, brutal regime ANYDAY.
