I have a very good force of habit to wear my seatbelt all of the time. Even if I'm in the driveway moving the car- again, its just habit. I'm just very used to having it on. Heck, even my dad and dads friends who drink while driving wear their seat belts. Maybe thats why I wear my belt. My dad used to drink and drive with everyone in the car when we were little.

It's your life and money. But If you ever do get a seat belt ticket, please don't whine here and blame the cops for giving you the ticket. It's akin to Nala whining about cops ticketing for too dark tail lens after he was warned.
No I am not one of those people that come on here and whine when they get a ticket, in fact I got a seat belt ticket at the end of February. Wasn't even that mad, it's the law (albeit a dumb one, my opinion of course) and the officer was just doing his job in enforcing that law.

I really don't want to come off as one of these "the man is bringing me down" type of guys, in fact I have incredible respect for the man behind the badge. Just this law in particular is one I don't agree with.

So I guess I made up my mind up about going to Carlisle, as soon as I introduce myself I feel I will be treated like an a$$. As I have just been on here.

Its just hard to tell the tone of what people say over teh intarwebz y0. I thought you were one of those "bring the man down" people and those people are quite annoying at times. The law was primarily made for safety, not monies. Its one thread man. Calm down.

You know race car drivers only wear seatbelts cause they might get a ticket during their race! Seatbelts don't save lives!

It's cool, I don't care about your life.

There is a whole good and bad thing related to seatbelts about getting stuck in the vehicle, etc. I had a cousin who was in a car wreck and the person driving was drunk. The reconstruction showed that if he had NOT been wearing a seatbelt and been ejected from the vehicle he would still be alive today.. On the other hand, I would feel much safer being trapped inside a vehicle than being ejected. In my line of work, we have tools that are built to allow us to get you out of a vehicle should you be entrapped.. I don't, however, have tools to protect your a** from hitting a tree, pole, another vehicle, building, or keep your a** from skipping down the road like a rock on a lake should you decide not to wear the seatbelt and be ejected from the vehicle.

That being said, it's everyone's own decision, even though it is a law here and you can be cited for not wearing it, most people still don't and live by the "Fake it 'till you make it" creed.

I put on my seatbelt everytime I am in a vehicle. It has become habit from driving emergency vehicles and based on the wreck scenes I have seen first hand, I'd rather take the chance and wear it than not. If I have all the safety equipment in place and I still die, it was my time to die..

Over this?? Nah, you won't get teased, trust me. Your Nala prank was legendary. In fact, there will be folks there that want to buy you a drink (including me). You should definitely come.

For the record I have no problem with your answer.

I just skimmed the above posts...And I don't like when someone sits Shotty and doesn't put belt on by the time I move the car. I remind them I get ticketed now in my state for you not wearing it. So my friend who is a big offender of this loves the 240sx auto belts because its just enough to keep me from getting pulled over and he technically doesn't put a seat belt on.

Usually, if someone doesn't want to wear their seat belt as my passenger, I will find the nearest parking large, empty parking lot and cut figure-8s at 90mph. That sorts 'em out real quick. Surprisingly, most people don't feel safe doing dumb car stuff with me! Who would have thought?!

When I was little I saw a terrible wreck (saw!!) happen where five college kids went off the interstate at 70mph in a full size bronco and rolled. All occupants were ejected, and all were hauled off to the hospital (where it was, I have no idea. We were in the middle of nowhere Kansas) via helicopter in critical condition. None of the occupants were wearing seat belts.

Seeing what happens first hand is a lot more powerful than some dumb video or pictures.

I have also rolled a jeep several times doing hard-core off-road stuff. Gotta be strapped in when that happens!

In conclusion, wear seat belts. Please! If not for you, do it for your mom, your dad, or your sister, or grandma!

Mines are automatic...pretty easy to remember. Don't do the lap thing though. A friend of mine got pulled with his auto shoulder belt and didn't have his lap belt buckled, and he still received a ticket. It's just awkward...and on the very rare occasion (i think once) that i use the lap belt, i forget eventually i have it on an then open the door and try to jump out the car and get yanked right back into my seat cause im used to the automatic. Full manual would be cool its just awkward cause its 2 belts imo.
