I'm contemplating on installing an air intake on my 06 M45 and need some advice on which intake is the best. I'm also planning on an Uprev tune after the install. I read here that some people lost HP with the injen intake, I was wondering with my cat back system+ intake with the Uprev will i gain as much with the exhaust+intake or less. I guess my ? is which intake is better and should I tune the car with an intake or without. I want to gain as much HP & tq as possible. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

How soon, this summer? How much will the R2C intake cost?

Thanks for the reply guys, yes I was wondering the same thing how soon will it be? I want to get my car tuned in the next month or so and I would like to have an intake installed when i do it, so that i don't have to re-tune it.

Is the RC2 intake going to be a short ram or CAI?

If it's a short ram like the M45 version... why should this intake warrant praise where as other intakes gets shunned? Is heat soaking an issue?

ns3425- do you have any sound clips of your RTC prototype? I would love to hear how it sounds. Thanks!

Sorry I don't. But once I get the final product put in I'll try to take a few clips.

^^^This, what's so special about the R2C if it is not available and only tested on one car so far?

According to the people who have it, the intake sounds really nice. It has proven performance gains, and I think the company is a sponsor here? Also looks nice with the black tube.

I don't think you can get any better than the OEM intake system which takes in cool air all the time and you don't have to worry about sucking water in the eng. Thats why I rather try the K&N drop-in filter.

Just make sure that when you clean it you don't over oil it. I used to let it sit in the sun and let all the extra oil run down to a sheet of news-paper. Then I would lightly shoot it with air before installing it back in the car. Never had a problem.

I hope to order one soon for my M.
