I went and test drove a g37 this week and I hooked up my ipod to test out they system, and I pretty much hated it. There was pretty much no bass what so ever.

It might of been a package with out bose... don't know... is this just me or does the sound system kind of lack.

Well, yes and no. If you mean is there a system that is worse than the Bose, then yes, the non-premium package, non-Bose system. But if you're asking if there are different levels of Bose systems you can select from, then no. If the speakers say Bose on them, then it's the best sound system you're gonna find stock on a G.

If you're not used to Bose systems then it is somewhat of an adjustment. Bose is known for being crisp. It has hard hitting base, but if you're looking for low rumbling base, that's not Bose's specialty. The system can make you feel like you just got kicked in the chest, but won't make the whole car rumble.

I know where you're coming from. I like the Bose in my G, but I used to have 2 12's in the back of my Grand Cherokee. Sometimes I miss setting off car alarms with my stereo just because I could.

Bose systems have built-in equalization that will cut the lower bass frequencies as you turn up the volume. IMO this is to help keep the "general public" from blowing speakers. The "proper" (read: expensive) alternative is to use something like the JL CleanSweep to remove the equalization and replace the speakers in the car or at least use the cleansweep (or similar product as Rockford has a cheaper alternative) to supply a signal to a new sub system.

If anyone is interested, I'll keep you posted on the upgrade I'm about to do.

Here's the system:

Keeping the HU Two Alpine PDX amps (150 watts x 4 and 600 watts for the sub)Dynaudio System 362s for the front stage Dynaudio MW 162s in the back deckJL 10W6v2.4 sub in a 4080 boxRF 3Sixty.2 for EQ and DSPLots of Dynamat

Have all the components and currently working with the installer on speaker mounting options given the nature of the Dyn speakers.

Some folks are happy with the Bose system. I won't settle for hamburger when I can have filet mignon.

To me, it's worth the money.
