Hey I bought a 90' 240 SE almost two weeks ago, needed a little work, but nothing I can't do. I gotta get it inspected soon. When I was going over the whole car I noticed the rear wiper was sitting almost sideways, the rubber wasn't sitting nicely on the window. When engaged it seemed to be having a hard time moving, it would go down and then struggle on the way up, not making it unless i lifted it up slightly.

I thought the arm was the problem, so I bent it back and it sits nicely now. But the arm is stilling having trouble. The harness was disconnected from the motor and electrical taped (I just happened to notice it cause the pannel was off at the time and the carpet was hanging). Could the motor be weak or dieing? She seems to make a little more noise than I'm use to hearing, but it's a 90, who knows. Any insight guys?

I dont have a hatch, but if the nut holding the arm is to tight , that would be why you have to hold it up. The wiper could have been hit or bent causing parts of the linkage to get bent, my 93 coupe wipers popped off the arm when there was ice on it. Open up the panels and check to see what happens to everything when it is engaged. If you cant fix it and need it inspected why dont you just remove the arm and cover the hole to make it look like stock. Does it matter it doesnt work to pass?

IDK, NJ is getting ridiculous with their inspection stations. When I went to get my parents Yukon inspected they failed it for wiper blades and they weren't even that bad. I could see them being picky. But it even make the winding/humming noise when there's no wiper attached, I'll look at the linkage when I get a chance, but it wouldn't be moving at all if there was a linkage problem. I might just replace it and if it's not the problem, oh well. That or I'll get my boss to give it back.

Ok, then if they are visually inspecting then plug the hole to look stock and get a blank piece from a coupe at a junkyard. Who needs a rear wiper anyway?
