Hey folks, im still pullin my hair out looking for the cause of my cars power loss. To start off I did a full tune up, plugs, wires, dist cap and rotor. Next I removed the AIV system and cleaned it up really good, shouldve removed it but im saving that for that for this weekend. Checked the timing. Replaced both cooloant temp sensors. Found 2 cracked hoses and replaced em. Checked fuel pressure- 32psi. Checked my compression and all 4 cyls are dead on 180. Did a leak down test and everything is perfect. O2 sensor was shot, so i replaced that too. Lastly I tested my coil and found the resistance to be 1.5 ohms. Had read somewhere it should be .6 ohms. Is this correct? I am running rich and do smell the famous rotten eggs smell. Test pipe on the way shortly. I removed the cat and checked it, slightly clogged. I'm sorry for the long post but im goin nuts! My 1/4 mile time is hangin steadily around 16.5! I dont have tons of mods but my time should be closer to 15 flat or high 14's. Can anyone recommend anything else ive missed? Is fuel pressure good at 32psi? Anyone have the specs for a coils resistance? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

from the fsm for a 90 sohc ka coil ohms= .7 between trminal d & e ;this looks to be the problem f.p. hose connected 42psi,hose disconnected 43psi btw a simple search for the FactoryServiceManual (FSM) and you could have done what I just did for you.

lol, I just downloaded the FSM, never knew it was on Nico. KNowing is half the battle, yo joe!

By the way, I have the KA24DE, forgot to mention that earlier.

When I checked the fuel pressure I had left the hose connected, getting 32 psi, the FSM says it should be 34psi. 2psi enough to cause a problem? Also resistance should be aboot 1 ohm at the coil, I have 1.5 ohms. This could be the problem here.

Am I leaving something out that I should have checked?

we could help more if you described your problem and not just what you have checked out.i see your running too rich but anything else? is it misfiring at all or hesitation? let us know it may not hurt to replace your coil though

Tough to describe man, there is no misfire at all. Its just a general lack of overall power across the rpm range. Im running 16.2-16.5 in the 1/4 mile. That is not right for what I have done to the car. I know my cat is finished, i get the rotten egg smell all the time so I guess I'll start there. I just don't want to leave something out.

If I was choking the shizzle out of you how fast could you run the 1/4 mile?

aka if your cat is toasts how is the engine supposed to clear burnt fuel out of the chamber to replace it with fresh stuff..If you know something is wrong with your car, and your not fixing it what are you trying to diagnose for? GO FIX THE PROBLEM YOU KNOW! once thats done you can continue trying to find other problems.

Thank you. I tested all this because i was bored one day after work. I know i should change the cat and go from there but I couldnt help it. As soon as I can get some more cash in my paypal, i'll get a test pipe off of Ebay and see what happens.

Id much rather get a test pipe as I think my flanges are off a bit. Keep getting exhaust leaks at the cat. I did unbolt the Cat the other day to look for something loose inside, nothing. Also checked if the "honeycomb" inside was blocked at all, not really. Anyone have any experiences with the Ebay test pipes?

Yeah I checked that too. I ordered a test pipe from a fellow Nico member, should be here soon enough, Ill post back when I get it installed and I test it out. Hopefully this is whats causing my problem. I gotta get my 1/4 mile times to a respectable level. Gimme mid 14's and ill be happy. Very happy.

check the adjustment of your throttle position sensor. If that's screwy, the car will run like crap.
