Hi, all.

As some of you may have seen from another thread, we have added a 2003 Infiniti M45 to our family of cars.

Brilliant Silver with dark interior and the dark birds-eye Maple trim. 165 miles on it. Base model without any of the add-on packages (I wanted the Comfort and Convenience Package, but the ones on the dealer lot did not have just that - they also added the Premium package that we did not want).

Looks and runs great! Reminds me of the thrills I had when I bought my first Q back in March of 1991.

Yay!

Z

Hey congrats. That is a kick *** car. The more I see em the more I like em. We need pics. There are not too many people on NICO who have an M45. Actually, you are the only I have heard of.

No we have a few more. For as rare a car as it is, our M45 membership is actually kinda high (4-6 that I know of, 4 of which active).

Thanks! I still get a wide grin on my face every time I drive it! :D

I do seem to recall one or two others who have posted about theirs.

Thanks! The M45 has an adaptive learning transmission - the service rep at Frontier Infiniti recommended I drive it fairly hard during the first 1500 miles so that the transmission learns my driving habits!

I will have to compensate for when my wife takes it out - she is a gentler driver! :D

Very, very nice indeed! The pull is strong, although I have seen one or two slight hesitations when pulling away from a stop. I am guessing it needs the same TSB applied that the Q received - I will ask the dealer about it.

The car is super quiet - you can barely hear the engine running (I have not red-lined it yet, of course!), even at high speeds. One time on the way home on Monday, I needed to get by some cars on the highway and pushed it very slightly - hit over a 110 mph in no time at all! Without strain or any raucous sound.

The "manual" gear selector is a bit notchy, so I have not tried to shift manually much yet. Will get used to it in time.

From Frontier Infiniti in the Bay Area. All the Infiniti dealers are motivated to sell the M45's they have in stock! I got the bare-bones base model without any of the packages or options (except for trunk and interior mats, which is hardly any cost).

FWIW, I wanted the Comfort and Convenience package but none of their five M45's had just that - four of them had the Premium package as well as the Comfort package. Only one (what I got) without the Premium package. So I don't have a sunroof either - but I don't miss that since I don't use the one I have in the 95 Q45.

Tires are so-so - Bridgestone Turanza ER33 are not worth much of anything! Will change them out for something reasonable when they wear out.

That's a good thing since sunroof eats up A LOT of headroom in M45.

The TSB for the M45 the trans ECM update is ITB # 03034.

way under sticker. Well below "invoice" too! The car MSRP was $42,905 and the invoice (not including the special dealer incentives they get, of course) is $38,877 ($38272 for the car, $545 for dealer prep, $60 for the trunk mats) according to Edmunds.

If you all don't mind, I'd rather not publicly talk about what we did end up paying, but let's just say that it was less than what many people here have posted about paying for their G35 Coupes (and not loaded ones either!) That is why we went for the M45 rather than the G35 that we thought we would get when we went in the dealers door. :) I'd rather have a bare-bones M45 than a loaded G35 ... I love powerful, 8 cylinder, high-performance, sporty sedans! :D :D

Like I said, I think that Infiniti dealers are motivated to sell the M45's they have on the lot, because (a) there is a replacement model coming out soon I believe, and (b) the M45 is not selling and they are taking a bath on the continuing costs of keeping them on the lot. I would be willing to bet that my M45 sat on their lot for many months (did not bother me - I will replace tires soon anyway!) as the date of manufacture shows as October 1992. I think that they took a loss rather than keep it any more.

They must be pretty hard by now, and you must be driving an very early prototype.__________________Brian1995 Q45 & Q45t

I had the trans ECM reburn done (ITB 03034) this week on my M45 and it made a huge difference in the drivability of the car. The engine and trans now are in perfect synchronization and communication with each other. I highly recommned you get this done at your earliest convenience!
