After looking for information on leather restoration for my J I found my was over to the bimmerforums.com website and found tons of info on leatherique and the great quality of their products and other information for softening and restorying leather. Anyway, just thought Id say that maybe we should have a car detailing forum of some sort.

That would be great!! We have one of those on cadillacforums (and a pro detailer is our moderator for that forum), and I have learned oodles!!

What have you learned about leather..... I have some spots on the Q where the leather is getting hard, and I want to treat it before it gets to the point of cracking.....

Well, from everything I have read and researched it looks as thought leatherique is the best stuff out there.

It seems that BMWs are notorious for cracking leather with increased age, thus there is a vast amount of information on bimmerfourms.com. Heres a good thread to check out with some good info on the products used to soften leather. http://www.bimmerforums.com/fo...ather

This stuff isnt cheap, like 3x the price of lexol, but if it works then its definitely worth it. My dad is going to be ordering some to redo the leather in his BMW and I am going to use it on the "cardbord hard" seats on my J. Ill let you know how it goes.

great idea about starting a detailing forum. if you do a search there are tons of great product/ideas that are mentioned but would be better if they could all be in one central spot.

Thanks J30t..... And if it does work, then it makes it worth it..... Better so than replacing the leather......

Have you tried lexol at all???

I have to admit, the Leatherique is worth it. It is a fantastic product whether your leather is in need of a little help or a little. On my 99 Q, it pulled out some weird whitish stains on the black leather that nothing else (including Lexol) could even touch. It does a pretty cool job on vinyl as well...

Lexol is best for brand new leather that you want to preserve and keep from cracking. It doesnt do anything at all to soften or restore leather. Ive heard nothing but good stuff about leatherique so Im gonna try it.
